The judge, Malam Abdulwahab Mohammed, however, gave Hassan an option of N30,000 fine and warned him to desist from committing a crime.
Mohammed convicted and sentenced Hassan following his guilty pleas to the charges of housebreaking, mischief and theft.
Earlier, the prosecutor, John Okpa had told the court that one Kasimu Mohammed of Life Camp, Abuja reported the matter at Life Camp Police Station on Aug. 20.
He explained that Hassan broke into the complainant’s house, damaged the window and stole N5,000 on the said date.
Okpa said that when Hassan was arrested, all efforts made to recover the money proved futile.
The prosecutor said that the offences committed contravened Sections 356, 327 and 288 of the Penal Code.
