The police in Lagos State have begun investigations into the circumstances surrounding the killing of a 38-year-old woman by her husband in the Ilogbo Eremi community along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
The deceased woman, simply identified as Mrs. Dike, was reportedly stabbed to death on Wednesday by her husband over a yet-to-be-determined cause.
The spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the death as well as the arrest of the suspect to the Nigerian Tribune.
The suspect, Peter Dike, has been arrested by the police, and the corpse of the deceased woman has been deposited at the mortuary for an autopsy.
Though details of the killing were still sketchy at the time of filing this report, police sources told the Nigerian Tribune that the suspect and his late wife had a serious disagreement on Wednesday.
Lagos Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin, while confirming the report, said, “On 19/02/2025, at about 11:25 hours, a team of detectives from Morogbo Divisional Police Station, while conducting surveillance and township monitoring patrol at Oke Ira, Ilogbo Eremi, received information that one Peter Dike stabbed his wife to death.

“Hence, the team swiftly raced to the scene and arrested the suspect at the scene of the murder.”
The police spokesperson further stated, “A kitchen knife stained with blood was recovered from the suspect, while the lifeless body of the wife was found in front of him in a pool of blood.
“He was taken to the station and interrogated accordingly, and he confessed to committing the crime.”
According to him, the corpse was removed and deposited at the morgue of General Hospital, Badagry, for preservation.
The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, for further investigations.
