Man arrested for allegedly killing daughter in Lagos

A disturbing incident has unfolded in the Afromedia area of Ojo, Lagos, where a father, identified as Kamoro Ojo, allegedly beat his 27-year-old daughter, Shakirat Ojo, to death and secretly buried her in a shallow grave within their compound.

Shakirat, a returnee from Libya where she spent about five years, reportedly became mentally unstable upon her return.

The police were alerted to the incident on April 3, 2025, at around 8 pm, following a distress call received by the Okomaiko Divisional Police. Preliminary investigations revealed that Kamoro Ojo was responsible for his daughter’s death.

The Lagos State Police Command, led by CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident during a press briefing on Monday.

The police team, comprising homicide and scene of crime detectives, visited the area, located the shallow grave, and exhumed the corpse for autopsy.

Kamoro Ojo has been arrested and is currently in custody at the State Criminal Investigations Department, Panti, Yaba.

In a similar incident earlier this year, a 21-year-old US returnee, David Segun, was arrested for allegedly killing an Uber driver in the Obalende area of Lagos.

This incident highlights concerns about the challenges faced by returnees and the need for support systems to help them reintegrate into society.
