The Malala Fund has announced the appointment of Nabila Aguele as Chief Executive, Nigeria. With 20 years of combined experience, Nabila will lead the organization’s work in Nigeria, driving advocacy and grantmaking strategies to improve girls’ access to education.

Nabila, an accomplished lawyer and public policy expert, brings expertise in sustainable development, fiscal policy, and social impact. She previously served as a Special Adviser to Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, championing gender-responsive fiscal policies and budgets.

“I am thrilled to join this team and support the next generation of girls in Nigeria,” said Nabila. “We will advocate for key education policies and support partner organizations working in states where girls face the greatest challenges to going to school.”

Malala Fund has invested over $7.8M in partner organizations across Nigeria since 2014. The organization celebrates a decade of impact this year and welcomes Nabila and Gayatri Patel, Chief of External Affairs, to the Executive Leadership team.

“Welcoming Nabila and Gayatri to the team is a key step toward our future,” said Lena Alfi, CEO at Malala Fund.

“These women are accomplished, innovative leaders and passionate advocates who will strategically guide our team’s work to improve outcomes for girls’ access to education worldwide.”
