Makeup; beyond beauty enhancement

The art of makeup involves the use of cosmetics to enhance one’s beauty and transform one’s physical appearance. This art has been categorised as a form of self-expression which has been a part of human culture for centuries.

The makeup industry is a huge money spinner for many youths today and aside enhancing beauty, makeup helps to hide scars, spots and wrinkles and equally to boost the confidence of people who wear the makeup. There are different types of makeup products; foundation, concealer, blush, eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara, lipsticks and more. Each product serves a specific purpose and can be used to create different looks.

The foundation evens out the skin tone and creates a smooth base for the rest of the makeup while the concealer covers blemishes, dark circles, acne scars and other imperfections on the skin just as the powder makes the face look smooth and beautiful for long hours and also covers up blemishes.

Blush adds color to the cheeks and gives a healthy flush to the face while the eye shadow not only adds colour but also defines the eyes and makes it more expressive and the eyeliner defines the shape of the eyes and gives it a perfect shape.

The mascara lengthens and thickens the eyelashes while the contour defines the facial structure by changing the shape of the face, nose, mouth and eyes and generally give the face a new look.

But while diverse makeup application techniques enhance beauty, its usefulness goes beyond making people more beautiful.

It creates job opportunities for people who are interested in learning, selling cosmetics or even producing it. Also, it fosters creativity and helps the economy. Also, it boosts confidence and encourages self-care.

In addition, there are health benefits associated with wearing make-up; wearing make-up boosts feelings of self-esteem, particularly in people with deformities, scars, etc. In addition, wearing cosmetics can lead to a psychological side effect referred to as the lipstick effect in make-up artistry.

It protects the skin because the blend of ingredients and pigments in cosmetic items can be a vital part of a woman’s anti-aging and skin cancer prevention arsenal.

The routine of applying make-up can be therapeutic and comforting, creating an opportunity for a mean-time and self-care which helps mental health.

It cleanses the skin and allows you to experiment.
