President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep concern over the flooding in parts of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy), it was noted that the worst flood in recent decades has displaced thousands of residents and impacted key facilities, including the Post Office and Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.

President Tinubu extended his heartfelt condolences to the government and people of the state, particularly to families who have lost their means of livelihood due to the disaster caused by the overflow of the Alau Dam.

While relevant authorities continue to assess the damage, the President called for the immediate evacuation of people from the affected areas.

He assured Governor Babagana Umara Zulum that the Federal Government is prepared to collaborate with the state to address the immediate humanitarian needs of the affected population.

President Tinubu also directed the National Emergency Management Agency to assist the flood victims and reaffirmed his commitment to mobilizing federal resources to support the state during this challenging time.
