A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Mr Opeyemi Falegan, has charged youths in the state to look beyond the allure of temporary handouts and secure their future by voting right in the coming governorship election in the state.
Falegan, in a statement on Wednesday, congratulated the youths on the occasion of the 2021 World Youth Day and noted that the 2022 governorship election in the state would be another opportunity for Ekiti people especially the younger generation to redefine and reshape their future based on the decision they take at choosing the right person to govern the state.
According to Falegan, the aspiration of Chief Segun Oni deserved the support of the young Ekiti people, saying his election would guarantee a better life for Ekiti people, particularly, the younger generation.
He contended that “Oni has a robust economic blueprint for the state going by his antecedents”, adding that “there is no doubt that Chief Oni remains the most experienced, intelligent, visionary and selfless politician with an impeccable character worthy of emulation by the younger generation in the current political scene among the avalanche of aspirants jostling to take over the number one seat from the incumbent Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi.”
Falegan regretted that political leaders in the country “have not given Nigerian youths a fair share and enough opportunity by creating a solid foundation that the younger generation could build on whenever the opportunity arose for them to govern.
“Experience, they say, is the best teacher. Therefore, in order for Ekiti State to move towards a real developmental direction that will assist the younger generation in the nearest future; and change the face of the state, someone like Chief Segun Oni desirable to lead Ekiti State as from 2022.
“It is on record that the human capital development of the Oni administration, especially for youths in the state through various empowerment programmes includes free periodic training on fishery, piggery, poultry, snail farming in agriculture; interlock blocks making, road marking and signs technology in construction with training allowances and immediate micro credit facilities for the beneficiaries to start their businesses has remained incomparable in the history of the state.”
He charged the youths in the state “to look beyond immediate but temporary handouts and support Chief Oni who is always ready to give the people especially youths in the state the best through a selfless and incorruptible service.”
