Local govt congress peaceful, successful — Jigawa PDP Chairman

Published by

The Chairman of the Jigawa State People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Local Government Electoral Committee, Alhaji Sheriff Abdullahi, has described the party’s local government congress as peaceful and successful.

The committee chairman, who is also the gubernatorial candidate for Yobe State, made this disclosure while speaking during the collation of election results for the 27 local government party executive members in Dutse, the state capital. He stated that “a high level of democracy had been demonstrated in the process and conduct of the congress.”

Alhaji Sheriff Abdullahi explained that “in all the places I and my committee members visited, the whole exercise was conducted peacefully in accordance with the party’s constitutional provisions and guidelines.”

According to him, the turnout of party members was impressive and convincing, demonstrating that the party remains strong in the minds of the people of Jigawa and Nigeria.

He also commended the Jigawa PDP leader and statesman, Alhaji Sule Lamido, the local organising committee, and the party’s executives and members for their hard work and dedication to the party.

In his remarks, the Jigawa PDP leader, Alhaji Sule Lamido, expressed satisfaction with the process and conduct of the party congress, describing it as one of the best ever held.

Alhaji Sule Lamido noted, “The present PDP is not for a person in a hurry. The present PDP is for the patient and durable person. Its current movement is not for greedy people. So those advocating for coalitions to defend APC and Tinubu perceive it wrongly.”

“I said, and I repeat, PDP will remain strong with all its governors and BOT members. Don’t panic about the defections of some members. They are the ones trying to cover their dirty acts and wealth out of fear of the EFCC.”

He urged party members to remain strong and committed to building the party, wresting power from the ruling APC, and saving the people and the country from the current bad governance.

In his remarks, the Jigawa State PDP gubernatorial candidate in 2023, Alhaji Mustapha Sule Lamido, commended the electoral committee sent from the national party headquarters for demonstrating experience, patriotism, and loyalty to the party.

He also called on all PDP members to remain united and peaceful. “Please be patient, ignore distractions, and stay more committed. We are going to be victorious very soon,” he said.

The state chapter of the party (PDP) has elected new executive members in the 27 local government areas during the party’s local government congress held on Saturday.

Reports from the state revealed that the local government congress followed the expiration of the tenure of the party’s executive members at both the local and state levels.
