Award-winning rapper Lil Nas X has been arrested in Los Angeles following an altercation with police, authorities have confirmed.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), officers were called to Ventura Boulevard around 5:30 a.m. on Thursday after reports of a man walking down the street in his underwear.
When officers arrived, the “Old Town Road” singer allegedly charged at them and was taken into custody on suspicion of battery.
He was later transported to a hospital for treatment over a possible overdose, LAPD spokesperson Charles Miller disclosed.
Unverified footage published by TMZ showed the 25-year-old rapper dancing in the street wearing only underwear and cowboy boots, while inviting passersby to “come to the party.”
Born Montero Lamar Hill, Lil Nas X rose to fame in 2019 with his record-breaking hit “Old Town Road,” which won two Grammys and spent 17 weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. He also became the first openly gay man to receive a Country Music Association award.
The rapper, known for pushing boundaries and sparking controversy with his music and visuals, is expected to release his highly anticipated second studio album, Dreamboy, later this year.
