Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC has presented the party’s flags to 57 chairmanship and vice chairmanship candidates of the party in the 20 local government and 37 local council development areas election which is slated to hold July 24 across the 13, 325 polling units in the State.
At the formal handing over ceremony held on Sunday at the party’s secretariat, Acme, Ikeja, Lagos, where 37 returning and 20 new chairmanship and vice chairmanship candidates were officially endorsed and presented with the party’s flag by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor tasked all the candidates and LGA chairmen to mobilise the electorate and ensure victory for the party.
He advised them not to take anything for granted, saying “The event of today is a simple but very important event because it is the official handing over of the party’s flags to our candidates. We are doing this for them to go back home to do the same for the Councillorship candidates and work to ensure victory at the polls come July 24. We have been doing it in the State and I pray we emerge victorious in this. I am encouraging us all including the LGA chairmen to campaign within the nooks and crannies so that the success we are currently enjoying at the national and state levels will also be translated to the local level.”
Earlier In his welcome address, state Chairman of the party, Hon Tunde Balogun congratulated all the chairmanship and vice chairmanship candidates while also warning them against removing names of councillorship candidates from the list of names given to them by the party.
He thereafter charged all the candidates and members of the party to campaign vigorously and seek the supports of the electorates to ensure the party emerge victorious at the polls.
Also present at the ceremony was the deputy governor of the State, Dr Kadiri Hazmat, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Mudashiru Obasa, members of the Governors Advisory Council and the party’s State executive members.
