This challenge, according to electronics giant, LG Electronics, is what it has taken upon itself to ensure that consumers get value for their money by producing life-changing innovative technologies that would help consumers live a better life. It added that not only are tools changing, so are lifestyle processes as a result of new technologies such as Refrigerators, TVs mobile phone, sound systems, cloud computing and wearable.
LG Electronics, one of the leading brands in the electronics market, has continued to design programmes and products that promote inclusivity in the society, saying for instance, it has continued to recognise the challenges faced by physically-challenged persons in the society, thereby creating a platform suitable to help them actualise their various dreams of acquiring knowledge to live a more fulfilling life.
“No wonder, in some regions, LG has provided a platform for people with disabilities to build a career with the aid of technology, which would no doubt help to improve the quality of lives all over the world,” the company stated.
Speaking about this development, the Managing Director, LG Electronics West Africa operations, Mr Taeick Son said: “We are committed to creating barrier breaking products that would ensure equal opportunities for all our consumers. Innovative products that would help improve life and increase societal participation especially for disabled consumers, thereby preparing the ground for the consumer to unleash their potentials.”
He added that: “In furtherance of its commitment to both innovation and inclusivity, LG signature lineup is a clear demonstration of this. For instance, a particular brand of LG refrigerator has an Auto Open Door mechanism feature with a smart sensor detector that opens the door automatically by simply stepping on the Door open light button in front of the refrigerator.
“There is a new smart technology in the offering to cater for older consumers’ to meet their daily transportation needs. For safe driving on the road, LG’s Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) with its unique smart camera, helps consumers to accurately garner traffic information in real-time. There is no doubt if fully embraced by users ADAS will help keep older people safe on the road, thereby reducing vehicular casualties on the road.”
However, according to Son, the company has prioritised usability for all ages, working to make the viewing experience rich and rewarding for those suffering from sensory loss as well as users without technological expertise.
“Interestingly, LG TVs now offer features ideal for viewers with specific needs, with heavy investment still ongoing to perfect the R&D projects to improve the viewing experience for everyone. The WebOS feature makes it possible to enlarge sections of the screen up to 500 per cent which is perfect for users with visual impairments,” he said.
