LG elections: Imminent crack in Adamawa PDP as two Senators, Reps set to dump party

It appears to a serious crack and impending party crisis loom in the Adamawa State chapter of the People’s Democracy party (PDP), as two senators and members of the House of Representatives are set to dump the party.
The impending danger was revealed following a post of Senator Cliff Elisha Abbo, the Senator representing Adamawa Northern zone on his social media handles.
On his Facebook wall Abbo had informed in a post that: “24 PDP leaders were disqualified from contesting the forth coming LGA Elections in the state on baseless ground. The Screening committee was chaired by Hon. Kwamoti Laori, a known ally of the governor of Adamawa State; Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Fintiri, to set an agenda of destroying the party.
“Must we become dictators overnight even though we are beneficiaries of a free and fair elections in Adamawa State in 2019 elections as allowed by President Mohammadu Buhari? Why do PDP want to blow the bridge that brought us to power?
“As one of the leaders of the party in Adamawa State and a major stakeholder, I want the PDP in Adamawa State to quickly reverse such devilish decisions so that the party will not be plunged into a crisis of no return. Can’t we manage success for once?” He asked
However, the outcome of an investigation carried out by Tribune Online indicated that Senator Abbo is not the only one worried over the alleged “destruction plan” of some few individuals in the party.
The checks revealed that currently, a Senator, two House of Representatives lawmakers lamenting over the agenda of some party stalwarts on a mission to high jack all structures of the party ahead of local government elections.
Check by our Tribune Online further showed that a meeting was held in one of the hotels for the past one month around 1-2:00 pm with a senator and six others House of Assembly members to perfect their plans of defection.
Feelers around is showing the possible splitting of the party in the near future if the decision of the Governor’s “allies” are not withdrawn to allow a free and fair primaries have its way.
Under a condition of anynomity, a close associate of one of the Senators in the state said if at this stage there cannot organise a free and fair party primaries they would not mind dumping the party for another one.
“For God’s sake we are all in the party that is believed to be rebranded and cleaned up for justice to all party members. To bring back what befell us in 2015 at this time around where trust, fairness and confidence is so much counting on us from our electorate. I don’t think we can stay in the party.
“It means we’ve not learned our lessons and the voters with their votes will vote us out to disgrace us within a little short time of us being in office.
“If a committee set by anyone will not do justice to all party members we and all our supporters will be left with an option of dumping the party,” he said
