LG autonomy: Be vigilant, ask questions — Senator Lalong tasks stakeholders

The Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District of Plateau State, Senator Simon Lalong has enjoined stakeholders to be vigilant and ask questions so as not to be shortchanged when local governments start receiving their allocations directly.

Senator Lalong stated that the federal government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has made arrangements for the implementation of financial autonomy of local governments, which will see council areas getting money for rapid development.

Lalong stated this on the last day of his consultation visit to stakeholders in his constituency, mostly traditional rulers, religious leaders, women and youth leaders, development associations, among others.

According to him, the people at the grassroots should expect rapid developments and be ready to hold leaders at the third tiers accountable, adding that this is necessary to galvanise development.

He also called on the stakeholders to always give their advice to political office holders and ensure they draw their attention to whatever they feel dissatisfied about.

The Senator promised to continue to look at projects and programmes that have been abandoned and new ones that need attention with a view to ensuring that the people get the best.

He appreciated them for their support and prayers over the years and said he has decided to come and give them feedback on his representation as well as get feedback from them.

Lalong told them about his efforts to provide water, schools, medical facilities, energy and other empowerment materials for the benefit of the people.
