Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Muhammad Musa Bello
THE Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, on Sunday, challenged Nigerians, especially the residents of the FCT to jealously protect the environment and make it more amiable for human habitation.
He gave this challenge while receiving a delegation from the Change Vision Nigeria Group led by Architect Tunde Imolehin, who paid him a visit in his office in Abuja.
This was made known in a press statement by the Deputy Director/Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Muhammad Hazat Sule, a copy of which was made available to Tribune Online in Abuja.
The minister reiterated that the protection of environment was a duty that must be carried out by all and sundry by making it more amiable for human habitation because it is collective heritage of all Nigerians.
According to him, “I believe that it is our duty to protect the environment, to really make the environment amiable for human habitation, just like we see in other countries all over the world.
“The Change Vision Nigeria Group is a passionate advocate of the protection of the environment and this one of the areas that had endeared me to your group.
“We have the advantage of having a city that has been planned from the scratch, a city that really if we put our heads to it, we should be able to make Abuja just like any other city in the world. We have the resources, the weather is pretty good, and rainfall pattern here is quite good. So, there is no reason why we cannot make this city green and beautiful,” he added.
Malam Bello affirmed that the FCT administration would continue to support any initiative that could protect the environment.
“I will like to discuss more on the change garden concept because I think we have a lot of gardens here at locations in the Federal Capital City itself that we will like to serve as a model of what a real garden should truly be,” he stated.
He then assured that the FCT administration would partner very closely with Change Vision Nigeria Group to further develop the Parks and Gardens within the FCC, and unalloyed support in the forthcoming Abuja Business Forum.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Architect Imolehin revealed that the group was established in 1996 with the vision to make everyone a change agent in Nigeria.
Architect Imolehin said that the group was in his office to intimidate him on the forthcoming Abuja Business Forum scheduled for April 18, 2017.
