AS responsible citizens, we must be law-abiding. We must show respect for lawful authority, pay our taxes promptly and perform any obligations directed by the government to achieve a vibrant economy and engender rapid development.
We should avoid damaging public utilities such as water, electricity and cable installations, considering their usefulness to us.
We should also resist the temptation to collude with electoral officials to perpetrate heinous acts such as rigging election, falsifying results, snatching of ballot boxes, or casting multiple votes.
These acts are capable of derailing the nation’s democracy and should be avoided by all patriotic citizens.
The electoral officials, on their part, must be impartial. They must also be seen to be so.
They must always ensure the conduct of free and fair elections, which will obviously make the country proud.
The security agencies, particularly the police, must be watchful.
If these things can be faithfully done, we can be sure of having a progressive nation which will be a pride to all and sundry.Ola-Olaniyi Bamgbola
