… urges national solidarity, security at Easter rally
The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Sokoto State Chapter, has called for national unity that transcends religious, ethnic, and regional boundaries, urging Nigerians to confront adversity with collective resolve and unwavering faith.
He made the call during the 2025 Easter Praise and Prayer Celebration hosted by the association on Monday at the Trade Fair Complex, Old Airport, Sokoto.
Themed “He Is Risen,” the event drew Christians from diverse denominations, tribes, and communities across the state, all gathered in a spirit of worship and intercession for Nigeria’s peace and revival.
Delivering a heartfelt address, the Chairman of CAN in Sokoto State, Rev. Dr. Moses Kayode James, JP, reflected on the deep symbolism of Christ’s resurrection, describing it as a beacon of hope, strength, and triumph in uncertain times.

“The resurrection is not just history—it’s a living call to rise above fear, division, and despair,” he declared. “It reminds us that peace can prevail, even when the world is in turmoil.”
Rev. James didn’t hold back in confronting Nigeria’s mounting insecurity.
He condemned the wave of violence sweeping through regions such as Plateau, Benue, Taraba, Sokoto, Edo, and Borno, and charged the government at all levels to rise to their constitutional duty.
“Our people are living in fear. Blood is flowing. It is the government’s duty to protect lives and property,” he said emphatically. “Security is not a privilege. It is a right!”
“Let our unity be louder than our differences, and our faith stronger than our fears,” he said, drawing loud cheers from the crowd.
The event was filled with passionate worship, energetic praise, and solemn prayers, as music ministers, youth groups, and church leaders led the faithful in lifting up Sokoto State and the nation.
In closing, Rev. James offered words of hope and encouragement: “May the power of the resurrection be made manifest in our lives, in our churches, and in our nation. May the peace of Christ reign in Sokoto State now and always.”
