•Adeniyi Johnson, Fash-Lanso, Ojo Lanre to make trip
LEAD City University, Ibadan in partnership with Space Tourism Society, Nigeria chapter is set to organise an
exclusive academic tour to the University of Johannesburg, South Africa.
The week long academic tour is expected to expand the out-of-classroom knowledge of the students and to give them the opportunity of interacting with students outside Nigeria.
The trip is sequel to the earlier trip facilitated by Space Tourism Society, Nigeria chapter to the famous Ghana planetarium in February 2016, making Lead City University students the first Nigerian students to be hosted at the Ghana Science Project Centre.
Expected to grace the tour includes veteran journalist, Wale Ojo Lanre, Nollywood stars, Adeniyi Johnson and Yomi Fash-Lanso.
The National President, Space Tourism Society, Nigeria Chapter, Paul Oladunni, stated that the participating students will be able to visit observatory; where they will view with their eyes all they have heard or taught in school about our
galaxies, stars, comets, asteroids, meteoroids and other planets surrounding our planets.
Oladunni added that students of history, political science and international relations will meet with different Nigerian political parties in diaspora and how they are working together to promote the good image of Nigeria abroad.
“The trip will also afford students with interest in drama production to meet some of Nollywood and Joziwood finest. Furthermore, they will learn about methods of producing films in South Africa.
“Lead City University students and other interested participants will learn more about the business opportunities and will
also have the opportunity to visit Nigerian business community in South Africa,” he said.
Each participant is expected to be giving a certificate of participation.
The trip is also designed to expose Lead City University students to inherent opportunities in space and space – related.
Furthermore, this trip has been said to not only be the first of its kind in Nigeria, but also in the entire Africa and it gears toward preparing them to be future space scientists and astronauts.
