THE Federal Government has announced the postponement of the proposed Annual Retreat of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation with Secretaries to State Governments.
This followed the suspension of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, over allegations of violations of law and due process levelled against him in the award of contracts under the Presidential Initiative on the North East (PINE).
A statement by the Director, Press, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Bolaji Adebiyi, on Friday in Abuja said the retreat; scheduled to hold in Yola, Adamawa State, from April 23 to 25, 2017, has been postponed.
He added that a new date would be communicated to all participants and invited guests in due course.
“The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation regrets any inconveniences,” Adebiyi said.
President Muhammadu Buhari had on Wednesday directed the suspension of the SGF from office pending the outcome of the investigations into the allegations against him.
Meanwhile, Dr Habibat Lawan has taken over as the acting Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), being the most senior Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
