LAUTECHThe family of the late Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke on Tuesday said the authorities of Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital (LAUTECH), Osogbo have refused to release the sample of tissues taken from the body of the politician for autopsy to them.

They also contended that up till now a copy of the autopsy conducted to find out the cause of death of Adeleke had not been given or release to the family despite the fact that it was the family that took his corpse to the hospital for post mortem.

In a press statement issued by the spokesperson of the family, Dr Deji Adeleke a copy of which was made available to the Nigerian Tribune on Tuesday, the family of the deceased politician stated that “the Adeleke family will like to state again, that the family has been unjustifiably denied the report of the autopsy and the remaining sample of tissues taken from the body of late Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke by the Osun State Government – owned LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo”.

While insisting that they  authorised the conduct of the autopsy and not the state government or Police, the statement added that “the family took the body of the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke to the Osun State Government owned LAUTECH Teaching Hospital Osogbo, requested that an autopsy  be conducted”.

“The letter authorising the conduct of the autopsy was signed by Mrs. Dupe Adeleke – Sanni on behalf of the family and cash paid for the conduct of the autopsy, but a receipt was not issued because it was on Sunday. But, the Chief Medical Director, Professor Akeem Lasisi promised that a receipt will be issued on Monday (the next day), but the Osun State Government owned LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo have since refused to issue a receipt to the family”.
