Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso (LAUTECH) has admitted 8,102 Graduands into Bachelor’s degrees with 94 in the First Class Division.
2,086 students graduated with Second class Upper Division, 3,494 in the Second class lower Division, 756 in the Third Class Division and 12 in Ordinary Pass.
The Vice-chancellor, Prof. Rasaq Kalilu disclosed this in his address at the 17th Convocation ceremony at the Institution campus, Ogbomoso on Tuesday.
He added that Nursing Science recorded 7 Distinction, 1,741 and 145 Lower Credit.
Prof. Kalilu stated that 133 students of the College of Medicine and Surgery graduated with Pass which indicates a satisfactory level of success.
“Adeladan Adeduntan of the Department of Science Laboratory Technology, Faculty of Pure and Applied Science emerged the overall Best graduating with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.86.
In his charge, the Vice-chancellor urged the graduating students to go and conquer the World.
According to him, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Ogbomoso has in no small measure, prepared you for greatness, with knowledge and skills with which you are to advance the course of human development.
“Go, therefore, into the world and make positive impacts. As we celebrate the 17th Convocation that marks your exit from this University, always remember Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Ogbomoso that nurtured you in your moments of glory and place its development in your hearts.
In his address, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the University Governing Council, Prof. Ayodeji Omole told the graduating students not to see the day as the final phase of their lives, rather, it is the beginning.
“In this era of knowledge economy and disruptive technology, one cannot afford to rest on his/her oars.
“There are still more lands to conquer. Whatever you want to embark up on after your graduation you need to add value to it for it to sell.
“The competition is keener now ever than before. I urge you to imbibe the Motto of the University, which is Excellence, Integrity and Service and add it to whatever you are doing in life”.
