The management of Lagos State University (LASU) has appointed a new provost in an acting capacity for the college of medicine (LASUCOM) situated within its teaching hospital complex in Ikeja.
The new appointee, Abiodun Adewuya, who had since December 27, 2019, taken over from Professor Anthonia Ogbera, who occupied the seat in an acting capacity, is a Professor of Mental Health.
His appointment was approved by the Vice-Chancellor of LASU, Professor Olanrewaju Fagbohun.

The university’s spokesman, Mr Ademola Adekoya, who made this known in a statement made available to newsmen, on Thursday, said that Professor Fagbohun greatly thanked the former acting provost for what he described as her leadership and selfless service while her tenure lasted as acting provost of the college.
Adekoya also said the vice-chancellor equally praised Professor Ogbera for what he called laudable achievements and developmental strides recorded by the college during her tenure, charging the new provost to do better.
Until his new role, Professor Adewuya, an alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, is the director of Linkages at LASU main campus and a former acting Dean of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences of LASUCOM.
He is a Fellow of the Faculty of Psychiatry of West African College of Physician (FWACP) and the National Postgraduate Medical College of Physician (FMCPsych) and he has over 60 academic publications in indexed journals to his credit.
