LAGOS State Task Force has said that police personnel attached to the agency will from Monday, July 30, 2018, commence a month-long training on ‘Active Combating and Readiness,’
Task Force Chairman, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, disclosed this on Sunday in a statement issued by the spokesman of the agency, Mr Adebayo Taofiq, saying that as “crime becomes more complex, the officers charged with enforcing our laws must be open to new and constantly evolving policing philosophies.”
The training will be coordinated by senior instructors from the Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU), the Police Mobile Force (PMF), among others.
According to Egbeyemi, the month-long training programme, which would be in four batches, is set to commence from Monday, 30th of July, 2018 at the Police Training School, Ikeja, Lagos.
The Task Force boss further disclosed that the training programme would help officers to override natural inclinations, biases or reservation they encountered in the performance of their duty.
The State’s Police Commissioner, CP Edgal Imohimi, while speaking on the training, said: “The very nature of policing requires officers to interact with the general public, and they should have problem-solving skills while being polite and professional at the same time.”
Imohimi, however, mandated all officers divided into different batches to fully participate in the training programme, which will be in four batches.
Speaking further, the police commissioner commended the Lagos State governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, for supporting security personnel with modernised equipment and relevant training programme.
Imohimi said adequate training and provisions of modernised security equipment by the government had brought about the massive reduction in the rate of crime across the state.
