One of the immediate solutions to economic and socio-cultural Nigerian problem is tourism, which has saved countless crises of many countries. It is important to note that both private and public sectors in Nigeria are heavily investing in the tourist sector of the country because tourism generates income for both local and national. This, especially, allows local people opportunity for educational and economy development in many different areas.  The African Cultures and Arts are areas that interest the global world at large for tourist purposes in Africa.

When one’s cultural value is rich enough to have its arts having a distinct place in the global arts,  with this uniqueness of African cultural arts. Until recently, private organisations, such as, MLK Events and Promotion headed by  Martin Adeyemo started promoting and celebrating African culture, art and tourism early last year in relation to beauty pageant. The beauty pageant maiden edition was held on Sunday 17, April, 2016 at Sheraton Hotels and Tower Ikeja, Lagos. Having in attendance Mrs Adebimpe Akinsola, the Special Adviser to Lagos State Governor on Arts and Culture and Honourable Fiwagboye Richard Oshungboye. The grand winners were Prisca Emeleike as Miss Tourism(Queen Priscilla), Miss Sammy Bukola (Queen Bukky) as Miss Culture and Miss Olofinkua Aderonke (Queen Agnes) as Miss Arts for last year.

In an interview with the Logistics Manager, Comrade Olajide Amidu Mayowa, he confirmed the date of the grand finale to be September 17, 2017 at Sharaton Hotels and Tower. He further concluded that “the African culture and art can only be better sold through tourism, which is part of the pillars holding the building of every economy. In the case of Nigeria we particularly focus on Lagos due to the richness of diversities in area of societal development and cultural differences, although the focus would soon be in other parts of the country for the sake of fairness and respect to undiluted culture”. As respect to the auditioning he confirms that ” for now, we held two different phases of audition for the contestants, but hoping for the last audition this July which makes the forms still available for sales for interested candidates”.

“Having partnered with notable personalities, organisations and companies such as Indian-Nigerian Community and ABC Relaxer.  It is noteworthy that Tourism sector should not be left alone to the Nigerian government due to the collective rebranding and building of Nigerian Society, both locally and nationally.”
