The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called upon security agencies and government authorities at all levels to urgently intervene and secure the release of its chairman, Mr Philip Aivoji, who was kidnapped in the Ogere area along the Lagos/Ibadan Motorway on Thursday around 6 p.m.
The incident happened while the party chieftain was coming back to Lagos from the PDP South-West Zonal meeting held in Ibadan and convened by Governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Ademola Adeleke of Osun State.
In a release issued by its spokesperson, Hon. Hakeem Amode, the party said it was disheartening that kidnapping had become a prevalent issue in the country, adding that the government’s inability to address this menace was deeply concerning.
According to the PDP, the abduction of Aivoji underscores the pressing need for decisive actions from the government and stakeholders to eradicate this menace, pointing out that his abduction was a violent incident, much like his current whereabouts or any communication from the abductors, which remained unknown.
It called on the governments of Oyo, Ogun, and Lagos states, alongside security agencies, to expedite efforts and secure his safe return to his family and well-wishers.
