FOLLOWING a purported leadership tussle botched in the Lagos State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the National Caretaker Committee (NCC) of PDP has asked Board of Trustees (BOT) members in the state to take over the disputed state party office.
The directive was contained in a statement by the party’s national secretary, Senator Ben Obi and addressed to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni.
The party leadership, through the letter, asked the two serving BOT members in the state, Chief Bode George and Mrs Aduke Maina to take over the party secretariat in accordance with Section 32 (5)(e) of the PDP Constitution.
Segun Adewale, who belongs to the Senator Ali Modu Sheriff group of PDP, disclosed this development while speaking with newsmen, on Saturday, at the party secretariat at Sogunle.
“We received letter from the national secretary, Senator Ben Obi, asking the police to hand over the state secretariat of our party to the two BOT members from Lagos, pending when the issue would be resolved by the national chairman, Sen Ahmed Markafi.
“As a peace loving party faithful, I have handed over the secretariat to the police in the overall interest of our party,” Adewale said.
