THE Lagos State Government, through its Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, has commenced the enforcement operations with the removal of illegal buildings on canal path along Systems 157 in Eti-Osa drainage channels.
According to the statement on the X social Media platform on the Spokesperson of the ministry, Adekunle Adesina, this was due to the failure of the property owners to honour the agreement to implement the redesigned plan for the area after several months.
It read: ”Several months after multiple stakeholders engagements by the Lagos State Government with owners of properties built on Systems 156 and 157 drainage path.
“ The agreement to implement the agreed redesigned plan has not been honoured by the property owners who have not only failed to come forward for the agreed MOU, but have been foot dragging on the issue.
“The Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources on Thursday commenced enforcement operations with the removal of illegal structures built on the canal along the System 157 – Orchid Road- Eti-Osa drainage channels to de flood the area.”
