The president of an elite club in Lagos State, The Idunganran Club, Alhaji Jaleel Olubodun Olubori, has advocated regular physical and fitness exercise for a healthy lifestyle.
According to him, regular exercise is essential for a healthy life as the body ages.
Olubori made the statement at the 2023 annual Idunganran Club health walk held at the club secretariat in Lagos on Sunday.
Speaking on the benefits of the walk, he said that apart from strengthening the bones and joints of members and participants, regular exercise improves overall health and fitness while also reducing the risk of chronic diseases.
He said, “One of the benefits of the health walk is to ensure that our members and other participants in the walk are healthy both physically and mentally.
With the economic stress and hardship many Nigerians go through daily, I want to advocate for regular exercise. At first, it may seem difficult, but once they start slowly, their bodies will gradually fit into it. This will put in check diseases like HBP and other ailments.”
One of the members of the prestigious club, the Executive Chairman, Itire-Ikate LCDA, Hon. (Dr.) Ahmed Olanrewaju Apatira disclosed that the walk is aimed at encouraging regular exercise among members and other participants.
He said, “Regular exercise increases general wellness. It keeps the heart, lungs, and circulatory system healthy and improves overall health.
There are no limits to the benefits of walking to the body, and this is why we emphasise this form of physical activity as it is suitable for all ages.”
