The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hazmat, recently held an important meeting with the Executive Committee of the Lekki Phase 1 Residents Association (LERA) to discuss key issues impacting the community.
This collaborative dialogue highlights the commitment of both the state government and the residents to improve the quality of life in Lekki Phase 1.
During the meeting, LERA Chairman Mrs. Shareefah Andu expressed her gratitude for the Deputy Governor’s engagement and raised several pressing concerns, including security issues, the presence of miscreants, environmental degradation, and flooding.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with the Lagos State Government,” said Mrs. Andu. “Our residents are passionate about creating a safer and more sustainable environment, and we look forward to working together to address these challenges.”
In response to these issues, Dr. Hazmat recognised the importance of a proactive approach and outlined actionable steps to address residents’ concerns.
“It is our duty to ensure that every resident feels safe and secure in their community,” stated Dr. Hazmat. “I assure you that the Lagos State Government is committed to working hand-in-hand with the Lekki Phase 1 Residents Association to tackle these issues and improve the overall quality of life for all residents.”
Another key topic was the regulation of billboard placements, with the LERA EXCo emphasising the need for aesthetic considerations in advertising. The Deputy Governor requested that LASAA work closely with LERA to ensure that advertising practices align with community standards.
Additionally, discussions on transportation highlighted the need for improved access and the clearing of congestion at critical points. The Deputy Governor encouraged ongoing communication between LERA and relevant government departments to streamline traffic flow and enhance public transportation services.
The meeting ended positively, with both parties expressing a strong commitment to working together to address the challenges facing Lekki Phase 1. LERA remains dedicated to engaging with the Lagos State Government to foster a vibrant and secure community for all residents.
