No fewer than 1000 residents and small scale business owners in the Itire-Ikate LCDA, on Tuesday, benefited from the N100m mega economic enhancement program of the Hon. (Dr) Ahmed Olanrewaju Apatira administration.
The beneficiaries including party leaders and members, members of the opposition parties, traditional institutions, community leaders, market men and women, artisans, PLWDs, vulnerable groups, religious leaders and youth organisations.
The distribution which held within the council premises had in attendance member of the House of Representatives, Arc. Hon. Lanre Okunola and other eminent members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Executive Chairman of the council, Hon. Apatira, said the empowerment was aimed at easing the economic hardships of residents in the district.
Under the initiative, the council chairman disclosed, a total of ₦100,000,000.00 (One hundred million naira) was distributed to 1000 residents with each beneficiary going home with a N100, 000 each.
In his remarks, Apatira said, “The cash support was designed to add value to the lives of residents to the tune of N100, 000 each. The financial aid is intended to directly improve the economic well-being of beneficiaries, empowering them and promoting local economic resilience. The intervention will allow beneficiaries to expand their businesses and also start a new business. This support is expected to stimulate small business growth and contribute to the overall economic well-being of the area.
Students also benefit through educational support, aiding them in reaching their academic goals and building a foundation for future success.
We have implemented a structured disbursement process to ensure the funds reach intended recipients efficiently. By addressing the specific needs of each group, this economic support program promises to create a lasting impact on the socio-economic well-being of Itire-Ikate LCDA residents.”
Member of the House of Representatives, Arc. Lanre Okunlola, commended Hon. Apatira for his foresight and dedication to community welfare.
He acknowledged the positive impact of the program in cushioning the effects of economic challenges while also reinforcing trust, confidence and support for the council’s leadership.
Beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the council chairman while pledging to utilise the funds for the purpose for which it was given.
