Lagos charges youths to shun cyber crime

LAGOS State government has called on youths in the country to shun cyber-crime and channel their energy into worthwhile ventures, saying that as the future belonged to them, they must make it count through pragmatic approach.

The State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Steve Ayorinde, gave the admonition on Sunday night at the launch of a book, titled: “It’s your time, make it count,” written by Adeniran Bamisaye.

“You have great roles to play, shun internet fraud and don’t be carried away by crime in the society,” he admonished.

The commissioner, while lamenting that many youths while away their time in ventures that were not profitable, also admonished them to identify with their talents and used them for the benefits of the nation.

Saying that as the future belonged to the youths, they must make it count through pragmatic approach.

Ayorinde, who was represented by the Director, Press and Public Relations, Oladapo Toro, further urged the youth   take advantage of the opportunity available now and utilize it, despite the challenges on their way.

Speaking further, Ayorinde lauded the author for his efforts, saying what he had done was to contribute to literature and enhance the knowledge of the readers.

Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf, also commended the author for a job well done, even as she enjoined the youth to utilize their time and opportunities well so that they could have a better future.

Represented by a director in the ministry, Julius Onikosi, she also charged parents to assist the youth in maximizing their potentials and opportunities in life.

The author, Bamishai, said in his remark that the experience had had while undergoing his first degree programme and others motivated his writing of the book, noting that such experience would definitely inspire the readers.
