Lagos Assembly’s peaceful resolution, victory for democracy — APC

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has lauded the peaceful resolution of the internal rift within the Lagos State House of Assembly, describing it as a victory for democracy and a testament to the party’s effective conflict resolution mechanisms.

In a statement issued by the Lagos APC Spokesman, Hon. Oluseye Oladejo, the party congratulated the people of Lagos, members of the House of Assembly, and the APC leadership for finding an amicable solution to the disagreement.

“The crux of the disagreement, which primarily aimed to draw attention to certain internal concerns, tested the well-established internal conflict resolution mechanisms of our great party,” Oladejo noted.

He emphasised that, as a truly democratic institution, the APC refrained from interfering unnecessarily in the affairs of the legislature, recognising its independence. However, when the crisis lingered despite several efforts at reconciliation, the House officially sought the party’s counsel, prompting a swift and strategic intervention.

“It is noteworthy that 39 members of the Lagos State House of Assembly are APC members who won elections on our platform and remain unwaveringly committed to delivering on their mandate.

“The party met with all members and proposed stabilising solutions that required sacrifice but ultimately served the best interests of the state,” the statement added.

Oladejo clarified that the APC’s role remained advisory, with resolutions only taking effect if upheld within the legislative chamber. He commended the lawmakers for prioritising collective progress over personal interests, reinforcing unity and renewed commitment to governance.

“This resolution is undoubtedly a victory for democracy and highlights the sophistication of Lagos politics, which remains a model for others. The opposition clearly rejoiced too early over a mere storm in a teacup, and hopefully, they will now put their propaganda machinery in check,” he concluded.
