Impeached Lagos Speaker, Hon Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, on Thursday presided over the State House of Assembly’s session.
The Assembly has been embroiled in crisis following the removal of Obasa as Speaker on January 13 by 36 members who subsequently elected Hon. Mojisola Lasbat Meranda as his replacement.
Obasa objected to the decision on the grounds that the process was illegal and took the matter to court.
Today, he returned to the Assembly to preside over a plenary in which some of the lawmakers, including Hon. Nuraini Akinsanya, Hon. Yinka Eso, Hon. Jubreel Kareem, and Hon. Noheem Adams, were in attendance.
Obasa, in his speech, noted the pivotal role of the legislative arm in democracy.
In his own remark, the Majority Leader, Hon. Adams, lavished praise on Obasa and moved the motion for a postponement of the sitting due to a power failure.
