Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly, on Thursday, commended the contributions of President Bola Tinubu to democracy and good governance.
The House also commended the president’s bold and courageous policies designed to take the country out of economy doldrums to prosperity.
The lawmakers gave the commendation during plenary session on Thursday.
They appealed to Nigerians to be patient with the government for more positive transformative strides under Tinubu’s presidency.
The motion was moved under Personal Explanation by the lawmaker representing Epe constituency 1, Hon. Abiodun Tobun during plenary.
Tobun described the country’s economy as bad before Tinubu’s presidency.
He recalled how Nigerians were pessimistic over two years ago when the administration of President Bola Tinubu came on board.
He said, “When the present government came on board, they have missions and agendas. They are pushing their agenda in all situations, in times of disaster.

“Today, we are happy that the economy policy of the government is moving forward and we are seeing the stability in the country.
“When the government came on board, the rate of kidnapping, insecurity was so evident that Nigerians cannot sleep with their eyes closed. Today, reasonably, it has dropped.
“There is also a marginal decline in immigration and I can tell you that we have about 3.1% increase in GDP in the year 2024.
“This, we appreciate what the government is doing. The price of oil is coming down and as we speak, the value of dollar against the Naira is coming down.
“As parliamentarians, its important for us to commend these policies and encourage the government to do more for Nigeria to be better.”
In his contribution, member representing Eti Osa constituency two, Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu commended the outstanding leadership of the president.
He stated, “I stand before you today with a great pride to celebrate the outstanding leadership of our father, President Bola Tinubu as a leader from this great state.
“Also, he has shown boldness, ambition, and wisdom in guiding the country towards progress and this, is worth commending and also worth celebrating.”
In his remark, the Majority Leader of the House, Hon Temitope Adewale pledged the allegiance of the state assembly to President Tinubu.
Hon. Aro Moshood, said, “We are strongly behind the policies of the president. We also express our confidence that he is going to deliver Nigerians.
“We are strongly with him, and we are making our pledge of loyalty back to him fully, and we are fully in support of his administration.”
Lawmaker representing Lagos Mainland 1, Hon. Owolabi Ajani opined, “I am a proud Nigerian today because of the President that we have.
“A few years ago, he made a few policy statements in his first address to the nation, and almost these have been achieved in his first tenure.
“We now have medical tourism with people coming into our country, not just people taking our doctors away, people are now coming to Nigeria for cheaper and better medical care. That’s something that we should be extremely proud of as Nigerians.”
Hon Stephen Ogundipe commended the President and his team at the federal level for coming up with visible economic policies that we all can stand up and be very proud of today.
He also commended the President’s commitment to democracy and good governance.
Before ruling on the motion, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Mojisola Meranda expressed her gratitude to the president and the first lady for their leadership.
The House resolved to write the President to express members’ loyalty and to commend him for his leadership of the country.
