Ahead of the July 24th local government elections in the state, the Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) will on Friday, inaugurate peace and reconciliation committees to reconcile aggrieved members of the party and ensure victory at the polls.
The committees, according to the spokesman of the party, Hon Seye Oladejo are constituted to engender peace and unity in order to ensure victory for the party at the polls and are to meet with party leaders, aspirants, members and other relevant stakeholders in the state over issues emanating from the last local government primary elections.
He stated that the party has mandated all members of the party’s caretaker committee to serve in the committees in the area of jurisdiction.

Other members of the committees drawn from the three senatorial districts in the state to be chaired by eminent personalities including former deputy governor of the state, His Excellency Abiodun Ogunleye as Chairman, Lagos West Senatorial district, Senator Anthony Adefuye, Chairman, Lagos West Senatorial district 2, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, Chairman, Lagos East Senatorial district and Prince Rabiu Oluwa, Chairman, Lagos Central Senatorial District.
Earlier, the Lagos APC Local Government Election Appeal Committee headed by Mr Lawal Pedro (SAN) had heard 125 petitions from the aggrieved chairmanship and councillorship aspirants on instances of outright failure to hold primaries for various reasons, the spate of violence, inconclusive procedures and substitution of names of candidates.
After the sitting of his committee which lasted three weeks, Pedro recommended a consensus process with emphasis on the participation of all concerned stakeholders hence the establishment of the peace and reconciliation committees by the party.
“The Committees which will be inaugurated on Friday 2nd July 2021 by 11.00 a.m. prompt at the State Secretariat of the party, plot 11, acme road, Ogba, Ikeja are to reconcile all aggrieved parties and ensure victories for the party at the July 24 local government polls,” Oladejo said.
