The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has celebrated the “significant strides and victories” of the President Bola Tinubu-led APC government in the power sector.

In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Mogaji Seye Oladejo, the party acknowledged that while there are still hurdles to overcome, it believes the country’s power sector is on track for more successes.

It assured Nigerians of improving grid stability and a more sustainable delivery of electricity to all parts of the country.

Highlighting some of the administration’s achievements, the APC noted that through key reforms and partnerships, “it has been able to expand the country’s power generation capacity, reduce losses, and stabilise the grid in ways that were previously thought impossible”.

The government has overseen an increase in national grid power generation with the addition of new power plants and the revitalisation of existing ones, which has led to an increase in overall supply to households, industries, and businesses.

A significant portion of the APC’s focus has also been on upgrading Nigeria’s outdated transmission and distribution infrastructure.

Improved network connectivity has allowed more power to reach urban and rural areas alike.

The party added that by encouraging private sector participation through innovative financing models and strategic public-private partnerships, the APC has unlocked fresh capital to address the power sector’s long-standing issues, ensuring sustainable growth and consistent power delivery.

In line with global trends, the APC administration has also made strides in incorporating renewable energy sources such as solar and hydroelectric power into the national grid, diversifying the energy mix, and increasing energy resilience.

While challenges remain, including persistent supply disruptions in some regions, the party believes these gains signify an upward trajectory for the power sector.

The Lagos APC assured Nigerians that the country is on its way to becoming a leader in power generation and distribution across the African continent.
