Lafarge Africa Plc is set to commission a new state-of-the-art Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station at its Mfamosing Plant in Cross River State, in line with its ongoing commitment to sustainable energy and reducing carbon emissions.
This addition will further strengthen Lafarge Africa’s strategy of advancing green mobility and environmental sustainability across its supply chain.
The new CNG station builds on Lafarge Africa’s existing green mobility initiatives, such as the Electric Vehicle Truck, CNG trucks, and Green Depots.
Commenting on the soon-to-be-launched CNG station, Lolu Alade-Akinyemi, GMD/CEO of Lafarge Africa Plc, said: “At Lafarge Africa, sustainability is at the core of how we do business. Osazemen Aghatise, Logistics Director of Lafarge Africa, also emphasized the operational advantages of the new station: “The launch of our new CNG station is a key milestone in our logistics strategy to promote green mobility and significantly reduce CO2 emissions. This investment in CNG infrastructure underscores our leadership and our ongoing environmental initiatives.”

“We are also expanding our fleet with more CNG trucks and electric vehicles while implementing innovative multimodal solutions to eliminate CO2 emissions from transportation. These efforts reinforce our commitment to sustainability and establish us as leaders in green logistics,” he added.
With over 100 billion Naira invested in advancing its green mobility strategy, the building solutions company continues its drive toward reducing emissions and optimizing the environmental performance of its logistics operations while bolstering the implementation of the Federal Government’s CNG initiative.
Since 2017, Lafarge Africa has been integrating CNG-powered trucks into its fleet. With its pioneering status as the first company in the industry to deploy CNG trucks, the company currently has over 35 percent of its total fleet running on CNG, with a projection to double its investment by 2025.
In furtherance of its strategy to advance green mobility, Lafarge Africa launched its first Electric Vehicle Truck in 2023. The company plans to scale up its fleet with additional zero-emission trucks in the coming months.
