A 30-year-old labourer, Babatunde James, who allegedly stole some bottles of alcoholic beverages and two phones valued at N100,000 from a bar, on Tuesday appeared in a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
The police charged James with two counts of theft.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp. Ben Ekundayo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 17 at 3 a.m. at the Royal Bar Lounge, Black Gate, Badore Ajah, Lagos.

Ekundayo said that the defendant scaled the fence of the hotel, gained assess into the bar and stole two bottles of Hennessy, two bottles Magic Moment, 20 bottles of Origin bitters, one St. Remi Martins, two phones all valued at N100,000 property of Victor Chilaka.
He said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 287 and 306 (a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 stipulates three years jail term for stealing.
Magistrate A.M. Olumide-Fusika admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until July 15 for mention.
