The wife and daughter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman for Patigi Local Government Area in Kwara, Muhammad Swasun, have been abducted by unidentified gunmen.
The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday night when the gunmen scaled the fence of the APC chairman’s compound in the Sakpefu area.
According to a party official, the gunmen fired shots to cause panic before breaking into one of the rooms and abducting the two victims, identified as Hajiya Fatima, the wife, and Amina, the daughter.

A member of the state executive council, who confirmed the incident on Monday, said the chairman was “lucky not to be kidnapped” by the assailants.
The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the abduction, stating that efforts are underway to rescue the victims and apprehend the perpetrators.
The police spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, stated that the command is waiting for a full report from the local division but has already launched a collaborative operation with other security agencies.
The incident adds to a series of recent security challenges in Kwara, particularly in the northern senatorial district, where communities like Patigi, Ifelodun, and Edu have experienced a rise in kidnappings and armed attacks.
