A leading cashew facility in the Ogbondoroko community of the Asa Local Government Area in Kwara State has distributed menstrual and personal hygiene kits to workers, schoolchildren, and members of the farming community.
During the presentation at the cashew factory on Tuesday, the factory manager of the Outspan Nigeria Limited Cashew team, Alhaji Idris Ajibade, stated that the gesture aimed to demonstrate a commitment to the well-being of employees and the broader community.
Alhaji Ajibade noted that the cashew facility also hosted a comprehensive sensitization event on nutrition and health. The event aimed to promote holistic wellness among employees, particularly women, and farmers within the community.
He emphasized that the factory’s management recognized the critical role women play in both the workplace and the agricultural sector.
“Key discussions centered on balanced nutrition for maintaining energy levels and overall health. This effort demonstrates the cashew team’s dedication to the corporate social responsibility of prioritizing the quality of life for workers and the farming community, and empowering them with valuable knowledge.

“Menstrual hygiene was another critical focus area, addressing prevalent misconceptions and providing practical guidance on maintaining personal hygiene during menstruation. The event fostered a supportive environment where women felt empowered to manage their menstrual health comfortably.”
Also speaking, the Kwara State Programme Coordinator for the Control and Elimination of Neglected Tropical Diseases from the State Ministry of Health, Mrs. Bamigboye Christiana, commended the factory’s alignment with national health standards.
The ministry official provided expert insights on nutrition and menstrual hygiene, highlighting the pivotal role of health education in empowering women.
“Good health starts with awareness, and this initiative marks a significant step towards ensuring that women in the factory and the farming community are well-informed about their nutritional needs and menstrual health,” Mrs. Christiana said.
