Kwara cashew firm donates hospital equipment to rural health centre

Published by

As part of its commitment to improving the health and well-being of its cashew-farmer communities through access to quality healthcare, a cashew processing company in Kwara State, Outspan Nigeria Limited, has donated hospital supplies to Iresa-Apa Primary Health Centre, Surulere Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Items donated include iron beddings, mattresses, a first aid box, stethoscopes, medical wear, consumables, among others.

Speaking during the event, the Sustainability Lead for the cashew team, Miss Happiness Onyegbula, who leads the Cashew Sustainability Team of the company, said that the donation reinforced the company’s dedication to one of its sustainability pillars, “Thriving Communities.”

Miss Onyegbula also stated that the support to Iresa-Apa Primary Health Centre would further strengthen the company’s capacity for exceptional healthcare services.

“We recognize the vital role community hospitals play in healthcare delivery; hence, this donation reaffirms our dedication to supporting local healthcare initiatives and improving healthy living,” she said.

Also speaking, the hospital administrator, Mrs. Adetunji Wuraola Rachael, expressed gratitude for the timely donation, emphasizing its significance in addressing pressing healthcare needs.

“This donation will enable us to better serve our patients and ensure our healthcare workers have the necessary resources to provide exceptional care,” said Mrs. Adetunji.

Appreciating the firm, Seriki Iresa-Apa and chairman of the Iresa-Apa Primary Health Care Centre, Chief Isiaka Audu, who represented the Aresa-Apa, Oba Moses Olayiwola, commended the cashew processing company for the donation and prayed for the company’s further growth.

Additionally, one of the executive officers of the farmers’ group, Mr. Gabriel Oyeyemi Adeoye, mentioned that the company had earlier donated a borehole and even repaired it when it developed a fault.

“This is commendable. We are aware this goes beyond the business transaction between the farmers and Outspan Nigeria Limited but is a fulfillment of the agreement reached with the government to take care of farmers. We appreciate you,” he said.
