Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State on Saturday described the conduct of the National Assembly primaries held in Ilorin as peaceful and orderly.
Speaking during the APC primary elections in the state, the APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary and North Central Coordinator for Elections, Mr. Durosinmi Meseko, said the peaceful atmosphere was largely due to the leadership of the party and the spirit of unity being promoted among members.
“We have gone round the town and observed that elections are going on peacefully in various wards and local government areas.
“The leadership of the party has consistently preached unity and discouraged actions capable of causing implosion within the party.
“I am happy that most of the aspirants did not see the contest as a do-or-die affair. They understand that only one person can emerge for a position at a time,” he said.
He expressed confidence in the party’s chances in future elections, saying APC would continue to dominate the political landscape in Kwara and across the country.
“As far as we are concerned, there is no formidable opposition at the moment. The opposition parties are in disarray,” he said.
Also, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq said that the APC has built a responsible government and delivered meaningful development across the state.
According to him, the administration has made significant strides in infrastructure, education, healthcare and human capital development.
“You can see in this facility that there is no dilapidated structure. You can also see our infrastructure projects across the state.
“We have built new schools and invested heavily in human capital development. In terms of infrastructure and healthcare delivery, APC has delivered.
“That is why the people want us to continue delivering the dividends of democracy to Kwarans,” he said.
Similarly, Chairman of the House of Representatives Primary Election Committee in Kwara, Mr Habibu Salam, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise.
Salam said the process had been free, fair and transparent, adding that it would ensure the emergence of credible candidates.
“We are satisfied with the process so far and we believe it will produce credible candidates for the party,” he said.
He urged aspirants to embrace sportsmanship and remain united irrespective of the outcome of the elections.
“What is important is the progress of the party and the state. The party is large enough to accommodate everyone.
Meanwhile, aspirants for the House of Representatives, leaders, stakeholders and faithful of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara state have been urged to
demonstrate true sportsmanship before, during, and after the National Assembly primary exercise.
Speaking with the party stakeholders in Ilorin on Saturday, the APC chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbrmi, also prevailed on all aspirants and supporters to approach the process with maturity, decorum and complete adherence to the party’s constitution and established guidelines.
“As our party primaries commence today across the state, I warmly commend every loyal member of our great party for your steadfast commitment, sacrifices, and unwavering belief in the vision and progress of APC.
“The APC remains a symbol of unity, responsible leadership, internal democracy, and people-oriented governance.
“These primaries are not contests for division, but a collective responsibility to produce credible and capable candidates who will proudly represent our party in the forthcoming elections.
“We must, therefore, avoid every act capable of creating tension or misunderstanding and instead strengthen the spirit of brotherhood, peace, and mutual respect that has continued to define our party in Kwara State.”
Prince Fagbemi encouraged every aspirant to demonstrate true sportsmanship before, during, and after the exercise.
Continuing, the APC chair added that “at the end of the process, the victory of one must be embraced as the victory of all, because the success of our great party remains far bigger than individual ambition.
“Let us remain united and focused on our shared mission of sustaining purposeful leadership, consolidating the achievements of the O’Toge revolution, and advancing good governance for the benefit of all Kwarans.
“Together, with discipline, unity, and collective resolve, we shall emerge stronger, more formidable, and victorious in the elections ahead.”
