Kwankwaso foundation donates food items to 760 couples in Kano

he Kwankwasiyya Development Foundation (KDF), in its effort to make live easy for 760 couple who it had wedded through a mass wedding organised  in Kano, distributed food items, valued at millions of naira and  N10,000 cash to each of the brides, so as to assist them cushion the biting effects of the ongoing economic recession in the country.

However, it will be recalled that last week the incumbent governor of the state, Dr Abdullah Ganduje, organised a mass wedding for 1650 couples and donated beds and household furniture to them at a colourful arrangement, the findings revealed that this gesture also made Dr Kwankwaso to organise his own mass wedding

Disclosing this on Sunday, a   former Secretary to the Kano State Government, (SSG) Rabiu Suleiman Bichi, who is chairman of the Foundation, said the distribution of the food items signalled another landmark in the history of Kwankwasiyya Movement by supporting those couples, who were married without any empowerment at that time.

According to him, it was in the tradition of the Kwankwasiyya Foundation to support the poor, especially women, so that they could be economically empowered to cater for their respective homes.

Bichi however said, as long as Kwankwasiyya Foundation is alive, which is Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s legacy, whether in Government or not, the Foundation would not relent in carrying out humanitarian services to the less privileged across the country.

It will be recalled that during Governor Kwankwaso’s tenure, he disclosed that 10,000 couples were married in the mass wedding, initiated by Kwankwaso, adding that each of the 760 women would be given N10,000, with which to assist them for empowerment.

Also at the occasion, a close ally of Senator Kwankwaso, Architect Aminu Dabo, who was a Commissioner of Land and Physical Planning, said this was one Kwankwaso’s legacies of assisting people, who were victims of disturbances across the country, adding that this was in furtherance of the fulfillment of the Foundation to couples to live a better life.
