The Kwankwasiyya political movement has dismissed widespread rumours claiming that its national leader, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, travelled outside Nigeria for medical treatment.
The clarification was issued in a message circulated to journalists via the movement’s official WhatsApp channel, Kwankwasiyya Press, and signed by the group’s Spokesperson II, Capt. Mansur Kurugu.
According to Kurugu, Kwankwaso’s recent trip was purely personal and not related to any health concerns.
“Good afternoon, and thank you for reaching out. Sen. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso departed Nigeria for a personal reason. It is not for medical tourism or any health-related reason,” he stated.
Rumours about the former Kano State governor’s alleged medical trip spread rapidly across social media on Thursday afternoon, triggering concern among some Kano residents and loyal members of the Kwankwasiyya movement.
The speculation comes amid heightened political tension in Kano following the reported defection of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, widely regarded as Kwankwaso’s political protégé, less than two weeks ago — a development that has stirred fresh debate within the state’s political landscape.
