Nigerian Fuji icon, Kollington Ayinla, has refused to respond as Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1, publicly vented his anger over a deep personal betrayal.
As controversy intensifies around their fractured relationship, K1 finally opened up in a revealing interview with Agbaletu TV, where he expressed profound disappointment at Kollington’s actions during one of the hardest moments of his life—the death of his mother.
Speaking emotionally, K1 accused Kollington of completely ignoring him despite being in good health and present in Nigeria at the time.
“I am so angry with Alhaji Kollington because he never showed up to offer his condolences when I lost my mum,” K1 said.
The Fuji maestro recalled how, during Kollington’s own time of mourning, he went above and beyond.
“When his own mother passed, I stood by him. I brought dignitaries to honour her memory and I covered all the burial expenses—100 percent. After all that, this is how he paid me back?”
K1 further dismissed Kollington’s excuse that he had tried to call him without success, insisting that no missed phone call justified such absence.
“Am I not supposed to be angry?” K1 asked. “He said he called and I didn’t pick. Is that enough reason not to come? He’s hale and hearty. What truly could have stopped him?”
The interview has reignited attention toward past controversies surrounding K1, particularly the fallout with his former drummer, Kunle Ayanlowo, just last year.
Kunle had accused K1 of mistreating him and other band members for decades, citing neglect of his health issues and emotional trauma during his time in the band.
The accusations sparked widespread reactions across social media, especially after Kunle warned that if anything happened to him, the public should hold K1 responsible.
In his defense, K1 dismissed the claims as “lies born out of bitterness,” arguing that he once rescued Kunle from poverty.
“Kunle is just chasing the happiness and success he never found. After 32 years of working, he has nothing to show for it and now wants to drag me down,” K1 said in a diss track released after the fallout.
Kunle later escalated the feud by alleging that K1 once slept with his woman during a tour in Paris—an accusation that further fueled the scandal. He also pushed back against K1’s jabs at his education, questioning, “You said I can’t speak or write English—so how did I communicate with white people abroad?”
Despite growing public attention, Kollington Ayinla has remained silent, refusing to address the brewing controversy or K1’s emotional revelations.
