THE Group Managing Director and CEO of Sahara Power Group, a leading global energy and infrastructure conglomerate, Mr Kola Adesina, has charged the students of KolaDaisi University to develop critical thinking skills and to strive for excellence in all their endeavours.
Mr Adesina gave the charge while delivering the maiden inaugural business lecture of the institution organised by the Department of Business Administration with the theme, ‘Entrepreneurial Mindset: How to Think Like a Successful Entrepreneur.’
While he emphasised the importance of fostering meaningful relationships, embracing calculated risks, and learning from failure, as well as the correlation between risk-taking and rewards he noted that “high risks bring high returns, while low risks yield low returns.”
The business mogul encouraged the students of the institution to make the most of their time while in school, aspire to become job creators rather than job seekers and detest mediocrity.
He also urged them to remain adaptable, warning that businesses that fail to evolve, like the once-prominent Nokia, face inevitable decline.
“The people who are passionate enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do, admonishing the students to believe in their potential to make a difference.
“Your future is in your hands, and everything starts with your mindset,” he added.
In his response to students’ quest to observe industrial training at Sahara Power Group, Adesina disclosed that only high-performing students with good character and academic excellence would be offered provisional internships.
In a bid to promote skill acquisition and vocational training in the institution, the tycoon, who oversees operations of his company in over 42 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, promised to establish a state-of-the-art entrepreneurship centre in the university.
Present at the event was the vice chancellor of the institution, Professor Adeniyi Olatunbosun; the deputy vice chancellor, Professor Olajumoke Morenikeji; members of the University Governing Council, including Mrs Olasumbo Obaseki and Mr. Tokunbo James and the registrar, Mr Haruna Olawale Adetu.
Others are the dean, Faculty of Arts and Management Sciences, Professor Jendele Hungbo; dean, Faculty of Applied Sciences, Professor Tim Odiaka; acting dean, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, Associate Professor, Ganiyat Ishola; director Research and Development, Professor O.S Odekunle; acting dean; Department of Business administration Dr Babatunde Aigb, other members of staff and the students.
