MR Woochan Chang, the new Country Director, Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has pledged his agency’s commitment to ensuring Nigeria attains enviable standard in quality education service delivery.
Chang made this known in a statement issued by Mr Ossom Ossom, the Head of Public Relations and Protocol, Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) on Thursday when he visited Dr Hamid Bobboyi, UBEC’s Executive Secretary in Abuja.
Chang, who expressed delight over his new posting to Nigeria, said that he would work to ensure the completion of ongoing KOICA interventions in the country, especially the Nigeria Korea Model School located in Abuja.
He said that the agency would also plan for other projects that would benefit the entire nation.

Chang stressed the need for prompt and concerted efforts in addressing basic education delivery challenges and promised to collaborate with UBEC and other stakeholders in improving Nigeria’s educational fortunes during his tenure.
Earlier, Bobboyi briefed Chang on Nigeria’s education system and UBEC’s role as an intervention agency coordinating UBE interventions in partnership with state agencies.
UBEC boss informed the KOICA boss that the commission was in the process of finalising arrangement for establishing 20 Model UBE schools across the six geopolitical zones adopting the Korean initiative.
He said that UBEC’s preparedness to work with KOICA in scaling up the model school intervention.
Bobboyi expressed gratitude to the Country Director over the visit
and wished him a successful tenure in Nigeria.
Chang took over from Sook Hyun Park as Country Director of KOICA.
