
THE Kogi state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, on Friday said the party would conduct the state congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) according to the existing zoning arrangement in the state.
Addressing the stakeholders of the party ahead of the state congress holding at the Lokoja Confluence Stadium, the governor said the state chairman of the party would come from Adavi local government area in the central senatorial district.
He said the leadership and members of the party had met and agreed to the arrangement without any dissenting voice.
Bello, however, assured the state Congress committee led by Alhaji Mamman Ali, that the state was ready for a hitch-free exercise that would usher in the new executive of the party.
He said his administration since inception had been working assiduously to ensure that Kogi is free of violence and secured for the residents and travellers.
The governor, however, urged members of the party to unite and cooperate with the administration in order to ensure good governance in the state.
The committee chairman, however, told the gathering that the committee was ready to conduct a fair and transparent congress in the state.
He explained that only those that purchase forms for the various contestable offices would be allowed to contest during the Congress.
Mamman added that the committee had visited the commissioner of police in the state who had assured him of adequate security for the exercise.
