Almost six years after the stool of the Eleruwa of Eruwa became vacant following a Supreme Court ruling that removed Oba Samuel Adegbola from the position, the town’s kingmakers have selected a new traditional ruler to oversee the community.
The decision was reached on Thursday during an election meeting held at the Eleruwa’s palace, Oke-Oba, Eruwa.
Tribune Online correspondent, who visited Eruwa in Ibarapa East Local Government Area of Oyo State, gathered that all six kingmakers unanimously selected one of the 18 contenders for the position after about two hours of deliberation.

The name of the chosen candidate has been forwarded to the Oyo State government through the local government and the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters for necessary action.
Speaking with Tribune Online, one of the kingmakers, who preferred anonymity, said, “We have chosen a new Eleruwa of Eruwa, and his name has been sent to the Oyo State government. We now await a response from the state government.”
