The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu yesterday said that the killers of the Bursar of the Akure Anglican Communion in Ondo State, Gabriel Abiodun would not go unpunished saying the hoodlums will soon be apprehended.
Adamu who stated this during a visit to the Bishop of the Akure Anglican Communion, Rt Rev Simeon Borokini, said some vital information that can lead to the arrest of the criminals are in the possession of the detectives and will soon arrest them.
Speaking through the AIG Zone 11, Leye Oyebade, Adams said “we have some lead now and the arrest of the killer is a matter of time.”
“For now we have moved forward, we have gotten some leads and we are very hopeful that soon we shall get to the root of this crime.”
“The IGP has given us mandate that we should get to the root of the incident and that is why I am in Akure.”
“When this type of crime occur, they are things to learn and that is the most important thing. We are going to tighten the security around for now and do more surveillance around the banks environment.”
“I am using this opportunity to appeal to the members of the public to assist us by giving us any information that can lead to the arrest of this perpetrators. Members of the public should continue partnering with us, we need the information because information is key.”

He however, sympathised with the deceased family and church, pledging that the the police authorities would go back to the drawing board to ensure the curbing of such incident and assured that the police would be more proactive in tackling crime in the country.
According to him some measures would be put in place to forestall such occurrences and they include the need for the Banker Forum to upgrade their security to guard against criminal loitering around their premises, surveillance in banking premises and community policing.
Adamu directed that security should be beefed up around churches in the state.
Responding, Bishop Borokini called on the force to intensify security across the country.
Borokini described the death the bursar as a sad one and called for the immediate arrest of the culprits.
“This is one incident the Anglican church wants security agencies to unravel without delay as it appears there is a syndicate involved in this kind of robbery operation.”
The Police Chief later visited the wife of the decease at their residence located at Ode community in Akure North area of the state.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Oladele Olugbenga said the only way the deceased can rest in peace was for his killers be apprehended and made to face the music.
Olugbenga pleaded with the security operatives to do a thorough job during their investigations.
