A high-powered delegation from the Kebbi State Government has arrived in Zuru to participate in the preparations for the funeral of the late Emir of Zuru, retired Major-General Muhammad Sani Sami, who passed away on Saturday in a London hospital.

The delegation, led by the Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Hon. Muhammad Usman Zuru, includes several commissioners.

According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Sarki, the advance team was at the directives of Governor Nasir Idris.

The delegation will remain in Zuru throughout the period of the arrival and burial of the late Emir’s body and will also join the Emir’s family in receiving mourners.

The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, speaking on behalf of the government, said Governor Nasir Idris was deeply saddened by the demise of one of Kebbi State’s and Nigeria’s most respected traditional rulers.

“The Governor has directed that all possible assistance and support be made available to ensure that the late Emir receives a befitting burial,” he said.

The Kebbi State Government continues to mourn with the Emir’s family, the people of Zuru, and the entire residents of Kebbi State and Nigerians in general.

The late Emir’s body is expected to arrive in Zuru today, and the burial will take place later in the day.
